Review: Hotel & Restaurant, Zanesville OH

Comfort Inn
500 Monroe Street
Zanesville, OH 43701-3884

Ah. What a very nice hotel. We were able to get our laundry done, as well as a good night’s sleep here. I just noticed on the receipt that we were charged for the room safe – I have since learned that many hotels charge you $1 or so (some even tax that!) for the use of a safe in your room. If you don’t use the safe, make sure you tell them that at check-out and have them remove that charge. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Zanesville.

Steak & Shake
3799 East National Road
Zanesville, OH 43701-3884

This is a fast-food chain we don’t have where we live (or any of the places we’ve ever lived) so we decided to see what it was about since it was conveniently located behind the hotel. I checked online to see if they had a gluten-free menu. Indeed they did. However, it was a little confusing as to what contained what – since then they have updated their allergen page and it seems to make more sense –

We both ordered the Wisconsin Buttery Steakburger with fries and a shake. I went to pick up this food and literally was gone less than 5 minutes – I’d say that’s the definition of fast food for certain! The bill came to $13.38. David claims this was the greasiest food he’s ever eaten in his life. I think he’s exaggerating, but hello – it’s not called the Buttery Steakburger for nothing (of course, I didn’t get a bun, which he claims had absorbed most of the grease). We both thought it had great flavor, and the milkshakes were really good.
