Review: Hotel & Restaurant in Stratford, CT

Comfort Suites
1500 South Avenue
Stratford, CT 06615

Yet again, the coupon book came through for us – and not only a nice hotel at a great price, but a Choice Hotel (same company as Comfort Inn) so we could take advantage of accumulating points towards our club membership. But aye, there’s the rub – some of these hotels won’t give you points on your rewards plan if you are benefiting from the super duper coupon price. Supposedly it costs the hotel $7 to register you for rewards points. Hint: it’ll even say on your bill “this rate is not eligible for partner rewards.” Kind of a bummer – but would you rather save $30 a night or get 300 points? It’s a no-brainer.

This hotel was super convenient to Route 95. The room was clean and incredibly comfortable – with mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker – and a desk perfect for using your laptop. There were no bed bugs. The breakfast buffet was generous. Unfortunately, they’ve changed their policy and pets are no longer allowed (not because of Mr. Pish, of course!).

Dynasty Restaurant
7 Woodend Road
Stratford, CT 06615

The hotel manager had given us a number of menus for local restaurants, and after looking over the proximity to the hotel and the prices, we chose the Dynasty Restaurant. And boy, were we right. My shrimp were huge and tender and I didn’t want to share them. David’s barbequed pork was succulent and delicious and he didn’t want to share that. The portions were more than generous and we couldn’t finish everything. The bag of take-out must have weighed 5 pounds! We were three-for-three with excellent Chinese food this trip. Thank you Comfort Suites for turning us onto this great restaurant!
