In this instance, having a discount hotel coupon saved us $35. Despite being on the side of the highway and near the airport, we didn’t hear a darn thing. The Comfort Inn Ariport was comfortable and quiet. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurants they recommended were around the corner, and offered a 10% discount to Comfort Inn guests: nice. The hotel is located in sort of a rat maze in the middle of mall mayhem, but luckily it is easy to see from the highway and therefore not too hard to find. The room was clean and bed bug free. Without the travel coupon, this hotel would have been well beyond our budget. The taxes came to $10 and the pet fee was a staggering $25. The breakfast buffet did have a decent spread, which helped take the ouch out of the price.

Smokey Bones was recommended to us by our friendly hotel check-in lady. With our room key sleeve, we’d get a 10% discount – so that sounded like a good deal to us! We checked the menu online and realized it was a chain, but we tried it anyway.
Our waiter was Joel who was really quite good – explaining the different rib options to us and giving us quick service. David got the ‘Double Trouble’ ribs – featuring a Cajun style dry-rub and a sweet glazed baby-back with cole slaw and baked beans. He was given a paper bag in which to discard his bones. That was kind of cool. He said it was all excellent. I got the salmon with a lemon sauce at Joel’s recommendation. It was very good except for my broccoli which was raw. I had specified when I ordered it to please make sure it was completely cooked. Oh well. At the end of the meal, the cook came over and asked about the broccoli which I told her was raw. She said I could fill out an online survey and they’d send me a coupon for four dollars off my next meal there. Say what? Oddly, we ended up with a 15% discount instead of the 10% we were expecting, so the meal came to under $40 with tip.
