Review: New Natural Bridge Restaurant – Lynn, Alabama

2/16/11

RESTAURANT:
The New Natural Bridge Restaurant
25304 Highway 5
Lynn, AL 35575

Well today I was in for a shock. We walked in to the Natural Bridge restaurant for lunch – and into cigarette smoke. I can’t remember the last time or place people were smoking in a restaurant. Wow. Yeah, we could have walked out – but we wouldn’t have eaten – there’s not another restaurant for at least an hour in each direction. I’d read about this place online when researching the Natural Bridge, but it didn’t turn out to be what I’d expected at all.

The hostess was a little gruff but our waitress was very sweet and friendly. There was a buffet, but being the finicky eater I am, one look told me to order off the menu. I ordered the chicken fingers with hush puppies. I would have tried the salad bar but it was one trip only – and being someone who doesn’t tend to take a lot of food at once, that wouldn’t work for me. David went for the buffet. It was interesting – not an “all you can eat” buffet – but a “one meat, two sides” kind of deal. Again, I figured, when in the South, order sweet tea, so I did. And it was good. The chicken fingers were huge, hot and crisp. Add the hush puppies and French fries to the mix and there was more food than I could come close to eating. David thought the beef stew was excellent, as was his corn bread and side dishes. With the tip, our lunch came to $20 – well worth the experience! (Not to mention that night David had the chicken fingers for dinner.)
