Review: Quality Inn – Raton NM

2-21-11

HOTEL:
Quality Inn
533 Clayton Road
Raton, NM 87740

Hint: when you’re in the middle of nowhere, the coupon book can’t help you. And that’s where we were – Raton, NM. We had researched the city and decided on a pet-friendly hotel on the North side of town. Unfortunately, and without any notice on their web site or at the visitors’ center, they were closed – on vacation. That left us in a scramble to find somewhere else to stay. Most of the hotels in Raton did not allow pets. But the Quality Inn did, and the price was right. (Oddly, the Best Western right next door was an extravagant looking hotel – at nearly twice the price.)

The room was basic yet quite large, clean and comfortable, and bed bug free. Our room was at the end of the hall by the back door – very convenient for having a dog. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful, offering advice on local restaurants. The breakfast area was accessible 24/7 which was really helpful considering there was no in-room microwave oven and we needed to heat up our dinners.

In a pinch, the Quality Inn Raton came through for us.
