Review: Fresh Tortilla Company, Alamosa CO

Fresh Tortilla Company
924 Main Street
Alamosa, CO 81101

We decided to try the Fresh Tortilla Company for lunch for three reasons: #1) it was conveniently located on Main Street; #2) we hadn’t had any Mexican food yet this trip; and #3) corn tortillas are a good way for me to avoid wheat.

The place was clean inside, and the young lady behind the counter was polite and friendly, and most apologetic when informing me that they don’t have corn tortillas there, only wheat. Say what? Seriously, that made no sense to me whatsoever. They make their own tortillas there, but none with corn? That’s okay, I’m very good at improvising. So I ordered the Steak & Egg Quesadilla without the tortilla. David ordered their specialty, a “Big Ass Burrito.” The food is made while you wait, right in front of you, very similar to a Subway.

In effect, I ended up with a huge breakfast dish of steak & eggs for $3.99. It was hot, and hearty and tasty. David was pleased with his huge burrito as well. Not to minimize the meal, but my favorite part of it was the “Orange Bang” beverage. Man oh man was it good – like drinking a Creamsicle – a whipped orange drink made from real orange juice. Now that I think about it – it was somewhat like an Orange Julius but not quite the same.

We both left the restaurant full and happy for under $14.

Great review! I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m in Colorado. Looks like a nice place for a quick and cheap bite to eat. 🙂
